Hopper Art Portfolio Award
Celebrating Community, Charity, and Citizenship Through Art
The Hopper Portfolio Award, sponsored by Dr. Robert Hopper, a veteran of the Vietnam War, celebrates the creative expression of high school juniors and seniors while highlighting the values of community, charity, and citizenship. This contest provides students who plan on pursuing higher education or trade school with the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and explore themes related to these essential aspects of society.
Submission Guidelines:
Participants must create a digital portfolio featuring their original artwork. Special consideration will be given to artwork that explores themes of community, charity, and citizenship.
The portfolio should be hosted on a digital platform or website accessible via a public link.
Each portfolio must include a minimum of three pieces of artwork that represent the artist's best work.
Alongside the artwork, participants must provide a brief artist statement (No more than 100 words) explaining the inspiration behind each piece. Judges will be looking for artwork that has a connection to the themes of community, charity, and citizenship.
Eligibility:
The contest is open to all high school juniors and seniors (grades 11-12) who plan on attending college or trade school.
Participants must be legal residents of the United States.
Judging Criteria:
Interpretation and exploration of themes of community, charity, and citizenship (40%)
Creativity and originality (30%)
Technical skill and craftsmanship (20%)
Emotional impact and storytelling (10%)
Prizes:
Grand Prize: $500 Scholarship
Submission Deadline:
All portfolios must be submitted by April 25th, 2025.
How to Enter:

Provide the public link to your digital portfolio in the designated field on the entry form.
Additional Information:
Winners will be notified via email and announced at the Awards Assembly.
Selected artworks may be featured in Dr. Robert Hopper's publications, exhibitions, and promotional materials.
By submitting their portfolio, participants grant Dr. Robert Hopper non-exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, and display the work for promotional purposes.
